Include a photo with my ad?

Ads with photos stand out and are more effective on Seatizen Classifieds.

To add a photo, you will need to enter the full web address (URL) of the photo on the submission form. This means that your photo must already be hosted somewhere online. You can link to a photo that you have posted on any web site or in a Seatizen Briefcase. Only .JPG and .GIF formats are accepted.

If you don't have a web site and want to post pictures, the easiest way to do this is by setting up your own Seatizen Web Presence.

Here's a brief, step-by-step description of how to create and upload a picture to your classifieds ad.

1. Create a digital version of your picture using a scanner. (If you don't have a scanner, ask a friend or try your local copy store.) You need to save your image in .JPG or .GIF format. Save your picture at 72 dpi (dots per inch) for best screen resolution. If you don't have access to a scanner, take your film to be developed and scanned. Many photo-processing centers offer both services.
2. Upload the image file that you just saved to a web address (URL) or to your Seatizen Web Site.
3. Once your file is uploaded, find the location of the photo. Remember, you must use the URL of the actual photo, which is different from the URL of the web page that the photo is on.
   How the find the photo's URL:
   
   • If you're using Netscape, right-click on the photo with your mouse (if you're using a Mac, click and hold). Select "View Image." The URL in the location bar shows the web address of the image. Copy this location and paste it in the "Photo URL" box and don't forget to include http:// when you enter your URL. If that doesn't work, try right-clicking on the photo again, then select "Copy Image Location." Now return to the ad submission page and place your cursor in the "Photo URL" field. Right-click and choose "paste." Your photo's URL will be placed in the box.
   • If you're using Internet Explorer, right-click on the photo and select "properties." The window will show you the URL (address) of the photo. In the "Properties" box, highlight the address with your mouse, then right-click to copy the URL. Copy and paste the URL for your photo into the "Photo URL" field on the ad submission page and don't forget to include http:// when you enter your URL.
